At Preston Todd Advisors, we have mastered the art of finding acquisition targets that match our clients’ acquisition criteria through the combination of a rigorous process of research, identification, and mapping, and a nuanced process of engaging those targets in a manner conducive to our clients’ acquisition objectives, ultimately positioning our clients to evaluate, and potentially move forward with acquiring these opportunities in an auction free environment.
At Preston Todd Advisors, research is the foundation which undergirds our ability to proficiently identify, and expeditiously present, target acquisitions to our clients. As such, we initiate a three phase research protocol:
Phase 1 – Core Target Vertical Identification & Mapping: Our core competency is attacking the target vertical for our clients with a proprietary dynamic search criteria development process. This proven process results in our unique ability to provide our clients with targets that don’t show up in general search engine queries, nor on generic industry lists. We pride ourselves in being able to provide our clients with the proverbial ‘flying beneath the radar’ class of deal flow.
Phase 2 – Target Contact & Engagement: The most nuanced part of sourcing deal flow is target engagement. We at Preston Todd Advisors have mastered the art of drawing out the C-level executives who own and/or operate potential targets to discuss the exploration of strategic opportunities.
Phase 3 - Target Profiling & Qualification: We procure relevant information on the target companies based on the criteria our clients have provided us, information sufficient for us to create a profile of the opportunity which our clients can meaningfully evaluate and assess to determine whether or not they would like to engage the target further. Additionally, we will provide our clients with a qualitative assessment of the target’s principals in terms of their personal needs and desires at this stage in their company’s growth. This information is critical in understanding whether or not the principals have contemplated an exit strategy and whether or not the principals would like to A) be acquired, and/or B) stay on board for the next stage of growth post acquisition.
Subsequent to the completion of the three phase research protocol, and pending our clients’ interest in pursuing a given opportunity, Preston Todd Advisors will facilitate the introduction of the acquisition targets to our clients and initiate the due diligence phase.
